Vitreous Enamel
Vitreous enamel is an ancient technique of heating powdered glass onto the surface of high karat gold, to fuse the two together and coat the surface of metal with bright vivid colour. The preparation of enamels requires grinding and sifting glass powders, layering and heating colors onto extremely clean gold surfaces. To work near enamel, our gemsetter has to be extremely precise and careful not to crack the enamel.
