Where is Gahcho Kue, Canada?

The Gahcho Kué mine is a joint venture between Mountain Province Diamonds and De Beers Canada. The diamond mine is located in the Northwest Territories of Canada, 300 km east-northeast of Yellowknife, on the traditional territories of Tłįchǫ, Dene, and Métis people.

The mine site lies on the edge of the continuous permafrost zone in an area known as the barren lands due to its lack of forests.

What is a Rose Cut Diamond?

Rose cut diamonds are some of the most delicate, unique, and radiant diamond shapes. They are also some of the oldest types of diamonds and are enjoying a serious revival in recent years in engagement rings.

Clarity

The clarity of a rose cut diamond is incredibly important because the flat, less faceted nature of the cut means that any blemishes or inclusions a diamond may have will be more visible.

Cut

Some people call these cushion cuts. But, the rose cut reveals the soul of the stone, emphasizing its unique characteristics and raw beauty. Because there is less brilliance and reflection to distract from such flaws, high-quality rose cuts simply require high-quality diamonds which makes them perfect diamond rings, engagement rings, anniversary rings, or heirloom rings.

Rose cut diamonds are truly exquisite gems, quite different from the more typical round brilliant diamonds, and their popularity is sure to continue to grow in the years to come.

Celeb's Wear Rose Cut Diamonds

A 4 carat diamond ring? Yes! Seriously, rose cut diamonds have been making a comeback in the last ten years, with celebrities like Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Aniston choosing this unique cut for their engagement rings. Hmm, wondering, are their engagement rings 4 carats?

Royals Wear Rose Cut Diamonds

Even our favorite royals—Queen Elizabeth, Princess Diana, and Kate Middleton to name a few—love to pull out their beautiful antique rose cut diamond pieces for special occasions; the royal diamond collection is made up of many rare and beautiful rose cut pieces.

You Can Wear a Unique Rose Cut Diamond

If you're considering a rose cut diamond for your engagement ring (or any other piece of jewelry!), this 4 carat diamond is a showstopper. But don't be afraid to go bigger if you can find one — you can always find a setting that will accentuate the size and make it look even more stunning!

What is a Kite Diamond?

Kite Diamonds are one of the oldest and most popular "fancy" elongated shape cuts in the jewelry industry.

They were especially popular during the Art Deco period in the 1920s and 1930s, but their unique shape and brilliance still make them a favorite today.

Will You Choose a Solitaire Setting for Your Kite Diamond Engagement Ring?

Kite diamonds look best when set in delicate solitaire rings. Their sparkle is unrivaled, and they are sure to make any woman feel like a Hollywood starlet!

Thanks to their excellent symmetry, kite diamonds have an incredible amount of fire and sparkle. Some people think of it as a diamond shape, but we see a kite flying in the sky. If you're looking for a diamond that will truly stand out, look no further than the kite cut!

The GIA Report for this Diamond

What is a GIA Report?

GIA stands for Gemological Institute of America, it's the world's foremost authority on diamonds, colored stones, and pearls.

Established in 1931, as a nonprofit institute, GIA became the leading source of knowledge, standards, and education in gems and jewelry.

In the 1940s, GIA established the "4Cs" and the International Diamond Grading System™ - to this day, it remains the worldwide standard for evaluating diamond quality. The GIA diamond grading system is based on the 4Cs of diamond quality: carat weight which is the diamond weight, cut, color, and clarity, plus more.

Diamond graders use specialized equipment and techniques to grade diamonds under controlled conditions. This ensures that every diamond is assessed consistently and accurately according to the strictest standards.

When you see a diamond with a GIA report, you can be confident that it has been graded by the world's most respected diamond authority.

From GIA, the creator of the 4C's, let's review what each means.

CUT

The sparkle and brilliance of a diamond are affected more by its cut than anything else.

CLARITY

The absence of inclusions and blemishes makes a diamond rare and affects value. But as my sister, a jeweler, once said to me, "the unique inclusion you see in your beautiful diamond solitaire lets you know it is yours."

COLOR

Diamonds in the D-to-Z color range are valued by how closely they approach colorlessness – the less color, the higher their value. Colorless diamonds hold the highest value.

CARAT WEIGHTS

Diamonds and gemstones are weighed in metric carats: one carat is equal to 0.2 grams, about the weight of a paperclip.
